Studygroup: CCCC Capitalism Colonialism Climate Change

In our extra-ordinary unstable times, when so much is to be done, what role can art play?  Let’s talk, but let us try to stay informed about the problems as well as we can. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Here’s what I think:

The most urgent issue, the be-all-and-end-all is climate change, a matter of life and death for the Earth. Discord, caused by capitalism, colonialism, and its many consequences, is thwarting our efforts to deal collaboratively with the Earth’s threatening demise.

I would like to know who’s interested in reading about, and discussing these topics. I am putting together a “bookshelf”  and would like some input, and ideas. I would like to tackle capitalism first. If you, or anyone you know, could speak to this huge topic, let me know. The study groups are collaborative learning efforts: I hope to find people willing to facilitate one of the sessions.

Wouldn’t it be great if this message gets to someone in Ottawa who has read:

Thomas Piketty: Capital in the Twenty-First Century, Translated by Arthur Goldhammer. Cambridge MA/London, England: The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press 2014,

and would like to tell us about it? I know, I’m dreaming.

And here is our Book Shelf

So let me know if you are interested in a study group and available this fall, and how often you could meet.
